Call For Artists

Installation Project @ Kingfisher

About Kingfisher

Kingfisher, a cocktail bar in downtown Durham, is now accepting installation art submissions for the upcoming year. Installations will be featured for six-month exhibitions.

Kingfisher is a craft cocktail bar focusing on using primarily local ingredients year-round. Many aspects of the space are designed and created by co-owner Michelle Vanderwalker, a local clay artist. Please visit our Facebook and Instagram pages to familiarize yourself with our business (submissions do NOT need to align with our aesthetic to be considered).

A stipend of $1000 will be provided for each installation.

Application is open to all living artists and artist teams. Preference will be given to local emerging artists and to installations that transform the space and ignite conversation.

The deadline for our spring show (January 2019 thru June 2019) is December 10th, 2019

Applicants may be an individual artist or an artist team of 2-4 artists working together.

The gallery space is roughly 13’x14’, with a 7.5’ ceiling, electrical outlets and track lighting. Walls can be painted as part of the installation.

Floor plan of the gallery space with foot traffic flow is below, please reference when writing/ designing your proposal.

Accessibility: our space is ADA accessible and a 36” path (marked on gallery floor plan) must be left clear.
